It is surrounded by a large artificial lake. This lake is what gives the city its name. The architecture of this temple is a symbolic representation of Sikh thought. It has four entrances, one on each side, which symbolize the opening of the Sikhs to all religions, among other aspects. The temple is open to people of any religion, nationality, sex, color or race. The temple also offers a free meal prepared by volunteers in the “langar”(community cafeteria) for anyone, regardless of caste and religion. People sit on the floor and eat as many times as they want. Eating with the faithful in the great room is a unique experience. Later, visit the Jallianwala Bagh Garden which houses a monument of great national importance.
In the afternoon, excursion to the Indian border with Pakistan to see the changing of the guard ceremony. Soldiers on both sides open the front door and challenge the others by shouting menacingly, while they make noise and parade in a peculiar style. All
